MASTERPLAN

Assignment 02/02

The second project delved into the broader perspective of the Te Ngākau Civic Precinct by conducting a comprehensive SWOT analysis to identify key strategic moves. Principles were established to guide the redesign of essential elements within the precinct, synthesizing findings from previous analyses and urban design evaluations of various sites. The aim was to develop a cohesive design framework considering long-term sustainability factors like climate change and cultural significance. Design principles were derived from the SWOT analysis, precedents, and the Wellington Proposed District Plan, while 'big moves' were visualized through 2D and 3D diagrams. The goal was to create an effective design framework for the subsequent masterplan proposal, which would communicate the design ideas clearly and comprehensively through a masterplan drawing and accompanying illustrations, ensuring a seamless integration of new constructions with existing elements within the precinct.
